heavy whipped cream, chilled

granulated sugar or powdered sugar

Instructions
- Chill a mixing bowl and beater blades in the freezer for 5 minutes or the fridge for 15 minutes.
- Pour cream into the chilled bowl, add sugar and vanilla if using.
- Whip mixture on medium-low speed until slightly thickened, about 1 minute.
- Increase to high speed and whip until stiff peaks form, about 1 minute.
- Use immediately or store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for a couple of hours.
