Easy Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients

The sweet potatoes

  • 3 lbs sweet potatoes

The creamy mixture

  • ½ cup heavy cream or whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

The sweeteners and spices

  • 4 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Wash and clean the sweet potatoes thoroughly.
  2. Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into quarters.
  3. Soak the cut potatoes in cool water.
  4. Drain the potatoes and place them in a saucepan with cold water covering them by one inch.
  5. Add a dash of salt and cover the pan.
  6. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.
  7. Boil the sweet potatoes for 15 to 20 minutes until fork tender.
  8. Drain the potatoes and transfer them to a large bowl.
  9. Add the butter and heavy cream to the bowl.
  10. Using an electric mixer, whip the potatoes, butter, and cream together until smooth.
  11. Mix in the brown sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon until fluffy.
  12. Adjust consistency with milk if necessary.
  13. Top with a pat of butter and serve.
