Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and place a rack in the center.
- Scrub the potatoes and prick them all over with a fork, then sprinkle generously with sea salt.
- Bake the potatoes for about 1 hour, or until tender throughout.
- Test for doneness by sliding a knife into the potatoes; it should meet little resistance.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.
- Slice a cross into the top of each potato and push the ends to open them up.
- Add butter or olive oil and any desired toppings before serving.
