Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup fine cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • cup packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C) and prepare a 9-inch square baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the melted butter, brown sugar, and honey until smooth, then mix in the egg and buttermilk.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
