Ingredients

Homemade Fudgy Brownie Layer

  • ½ cup salted butter
  • 8 ounces bittersweet (or semi-sweet) chocolate
  • cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Middle Layer

  • ¾ cup salted peanuts
  • 8 full size Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

Top Layer

  • cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • cups creamy peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • cups Rice Krispies cereal

Instructions

  1. Prepare the brownie layer according to the directions if using a boxed mix, baking for 5 minutes less than stated.
  2. If making from scratch, preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and prepare an 11×7-inch baking pan.
  3. Melt butter and chocolate in a saucepan, then stir in sugar and add eggs one at a time, whisking until smooth.
  4. Whisk in vanilla, then gently fold in flour and salt before pouring the batter into the prepared pan and baking for 30 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle peanuts and chopped Reese’s cups on top of the brownies and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. While the brownies bake, melt chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter in a saucepan and stir in Rice Krispies.
  7. Pour the chocolate-peanut butter mixture over the brownies, spread evenly, and refrigerate for 2 hours before cutting into squares.
