Ingredients

  • 2 large slices crusty bread
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon fine salt
  • teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice or tear the bread into ¾-inch cubes, yielding about 3 cups.
  3. Place the cubed bread on the baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  4. Toss the bread to coat evenly and arrange it in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, tossing every 5 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Remove from the oven and transfer to a plate to absorb excess oil. Season to taste with additional salt and pepper if desired.
