Instructions
- Mix the sugar and vanilla bean caviar in a bowl until well combined.
- In a medium to large saucepan, combine the whole milk, sugar/vanilla mixture, and baking soda.
- Cook the mixture over medium heat until it simmers, about 5 minutes.
- Reduce the heat to low and allow the mixture to simmer gently for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
- Once thickened and dark brown, remove from heat and strain through a fine-mesh sieve.
- Stir in a pinch of salt and store in an airtight container.
