Ingredients

The bread and egg mixture

  • 1 small round loaf sourdough bread
  • 4 pieces eggs
  • 1 cup half and half cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

The cooking fat

  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Slice the sourdough bread into thick slices and set aside.
  2. In a bowl or casserole dish, whisk together the eggs, half and half, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon.
  3. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat, ensuring it covers the bottom of the pan.
  4. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a couple of minutes.
  5. Transfer the soaked bread slices to the heated skillet and cook for about 3 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Flip the slices and cook the other side until golden brown as well.
  7. Repeat the process until all bread slices are cooked, adding more butter as needed.
  8. Serve warm with fresh berries and maple syrup.
