Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Ingredients

The turkey

  • 1 (4 to 5 pound) bone-in whole turkey breast

The seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened
  • 6 leaves fresh sage
  • to taste salt
  • to taste freshly ground black pepper

For broiling (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For cooking

  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Place the turkey breast in the slow cooker and dry it with paper towels.
  2. Rub the softened butter over the turkey and press the sage leaves into the top.
  3. Season with salt and pepper, then add 1 cup of water to the bottom of the slow cooker.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours, checking for doneness after 4 hours.
  5. If desired, for browned skin, broil the turkey for 7 to 10 minutes after cooking.
  6. Let the turkey rest for 15 minutes, then slice and serve.
