Homemade Sunflower Butter

Ingredients

  • 3 cups raw sunflower seeds
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 2–3 teaspoons melted refined coconut oil or avocado oil (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Toss the raw sunflower seeds with cinnamon and spread them on a baking sheet.
  3. Toast the seeds for 20 minutes, stirring halfway through until golden brown.
  4. Place the toasted seeds in a food processor and blend on high for 1 to 2 minutes until a mealy texture forms.
  5. Scrape down the sides and continue blending for an additional 7 to 10 minutes until a thick paste is formed.
  6. Add optional extracts and sweeteners, then blend to combine. If needed, add melted coconut or avocado oil gradually for a smoother texture.
