Ingredients

  • 4 cups organic sesame seeds
  • 4-8 tablespoons light/neutral tasting oil
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Toast the sesame seeds at 350°F for 8 to 10 minutes until fragrant and lightly colored.
  2. Let the toasted seeds cool before handling.
  3. Place sesame seeds, 2-3 tablespoons of oil, and salt in a high-speed blender.
  4. Blend starting at low speed, gradually increasing to high for 1-2 minutes until a thick paste forms.
  5. Add more oil, 1-2 tablespoons at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
  6. Transfer tahini to a jar or airtight container and store in a cool, dry place.
