Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with tin foil.
- Arrange the bacon strips on the baking sheet and bake for 15-18 minutes until crispy.
- While the bacon is baking, slice the red onion thinly and heat butter or olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the onions to the pan and stir until they soften, then reduce heat to low and cook for about 40 minutes, adding water if they dry out.
- Grease a grill pan or cast-iron skillet with oil and heat it.
- Cook the beef patties on the grill until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F, flipping them as needed.
- Prepare the toppings by toasting the buns and chopping the lettuce, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese.
- Assemble the burgers in this order: bottom bun, lettuce, tomato, burger patty, bacon, cheddar cheese, more lettuce, caramelized onions, and top bun.
- Serve and enjoy!
