Cheesy Garlic Bread Swirls

Ingredients

French Bread Dough

  • 1 Tbsp. yeast
  • 1 ½ c. warm water
  • 1 ½ Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4-5 ½ c. flour
  • 3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 egg yolk egg yolk

Garlic Butter

  • ½ c. real butter
  • 1 ½ Tbsp. garlic bread seasoning
  • to taste shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Combine yeast, warm water, and sugar in a large mixing bowl and let it stand for 10 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Add salt, vegetable oil, and egg yolk to the mixture and combine.
  3. Mix in 3 cups of flour until well combined, then add more flour as needed to form a soft dough.
  4. Knead the dough for 2-3 minutes, then cover and let it rise for 1 hour.
  5. While the dough is rising, mix butter and garlic bread seasoning and set aside.
  6. Roll the dough into a rectangle (18-20 inches by 6 inches) and spread the garlic butter over it, then sprinkle with cheese.
  7. Roll the dough up jelly-roll style and cut into 12 equal slices using dental floss.
  8. Place each slice in a muffin tin, cover with a cloth, and let rise while preheating the oven to 350°F.
  9. Bake the rolls for 18-22 minutes, covering with foil if the cheese browns too quickly.
  10. Remove from the oven and serve immediately.
