Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and spray a 13 x 9 casserole dish with cooking spray, then add the green beans.
- Melt the butter in a large dutch oven over medium-high heat, then add mushrooms and onions, cooking for 8 minutes.
- Add garlic and thyme, then stir in flour and cook for an additional minute.
- Stir in the broth until combined, then add half and half and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Reduce the heat to low, stir in 1 cup of cheese, salt, and pepper, and cook until the cheese melts.
- Pour the cheese sauce over the green beans and top with the remaining cup of cheese.
- Bake for 15 minutes, then add fried onions and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
