Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 300°F (149°C) and prepare an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
- Make the shortbread crust by mixing melted butter, granulated sugar, vanilla, and salt, then adding flour and pressing into the pan. Bake for 15 minutes.
- Prepare the apple filling by combining sliced apples with flour, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl.
- Make the streusel topping by whisking oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour, then cutting in the cold butter until crumbly.
- Increase the oven temperature to 350°F (177°C), layer the apple filling over the crust, and sprinkle with streusel. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool the bars for at least 20 minutes, then chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Cut into bars and drizzle with salted caramel before serving.
