Homemade Black Bean Burger

Ingredients

The burger mixture

  • 2 15oz. cans black beans
  • ¼ red onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • ¼ bunch fresh cilantro
  • 1 Tbsp sriracha
  • 1 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1.5 Tbsp soy sauce
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs

For cooking

  • 2 Tbsp cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Rinse and drain the black beans.
  2. Combine black beans, red onion, garlic, cilantro, sriracha, mayonnaise, cumin, soy sauce, and pepper in a food processor and pulse until mixed but chunky.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and add the egg and breadcrumbs, mixing until combined. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  4. Divide the mixture into six equal portions and shape into patties.
  5. Heat cooking oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned.
  6. Serve the patties in buns with your favorite toppings.
